Journalist

Genelle Levy is a reporter who covers social issues and marginalized communities. Her work has included covering the impact of wildfires on Indigenous communities for The Guardian, healthcare inequities in LGBTQ+ communities and efforts to diversify school curriculums. Genelle started her career as an arts reporter in Syracuse, New York before transitioning to digital news and women focused issues at several sites including Conde Nast's Them, Bustle and TeenVogue. In 2020 her reporting on historical Black communities at TVO went viral for its accurate retelling of marginalized communities that lacked recognition. As a contributing editor at Narratively she increased the site's contributors of color by 50%. She is also a part-time professor of journalism who teaches news reporting, feature writing and how to report on diverse communities.
